Shown here at the New Scottish Furniture Exhibition, Ardfern 2003, organised by the Scottish Furniture Makers Association. This piece was conceived while I was searching for timber for my ‘Lighthouse’ table (seen in the background). The board was leaning on the side of a shed and I could see ripples on a beach in the figure. I couldn’t resist it. 

Polished, the figure was enhanced and was exactly as I had hoped – suggesting the ripples on a beach left as the tide swirls around obstacles, reflected in the bench by the asymmetric positioning of the legs. This piece is of course unique. The bowl is by Antonia, Collaig Pottery. (See links)
